The Minister of Education and Technical Education Tarek Shawky announced that Samsung’s international factory in Egypt will manufacture all educational tablets to be distributed to Egyptian high school students starting in September 2022. Shawky estimates that 40 percent of the components used by the factory are locally made using Egyptian labor.
The ministry has been working on digitizing the entire education system, while providing a more engaging learning experience that depends on interactive exercises, rather than memorization. Shawky explained the ministry’s efforts to expand the use of the latest technologies and double the capabilities of digital information infrastructure during the cabinet meeting, headed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
A recent agreement was signed by the ministry with the Arab Organization for Industrialization, the English Promethean Company, and Si-Vision to produce interactive screens for the ministry. In May 2021, the Arab Organization for Industrialization and the Talal Abu Ghazaleh Global Group launched the first production line in Egypt for Arab tablets and laptops.
